There are some stories that begin with a strange coincidence but end up revealing something much deeper about grief, love, and the connections we form without ever realizing it.
For an entire year, a stranger’s dog appeared at my late son’s grave.
Almost every day, the same dog would quietly make his way to the cemetery and sit beside the headstone. He never seemed aggressive or restless. He simply stayed there, sometimes for minutes and sometimes much longer, before eventually disappearing.
At first, I assumed the dog belonged to someone who visited another grave nearby.
Then I began wondering whether there was a connection to my son.
I had no answers.
I didn’t know where the dog came from, who owned him, or why he seemed so determined to return to the same place. All I could do was watch from a distance and wonder what the animal somehow seemed to understand.
Then, one day, something completely unexpected happened.
The dog appeared in my yard.
And he wasn’t alone.
He had a toy in his mouth.
