Every night, he returned to the cemetery.
While the rest of the world slept, he lay beside his mother’s grave, unwilling to accept that she was truly gone.
He had been doing it for so long that the cemetery had almost become his second home.
He didn’t care about the cold.
He didn’t care about the uncomfortable ground.
He simply couldn’t bring himself to leave her completely behind.
Then, one morning, his scream shattered the silence.
Something had awakened him.
At first, he thought it was the early sunlight breaking through the trees.
But then he realized the light wasn’t coming from the sky.
It was coming from the ground.
A soft glow surrounded his mother’s grave, pulsing beneath the earth almost like a heartbeat.
He froze.
Every instinct told him to run.
Instead, he remained where he was, staring at something he couldn’t explain.
The light became brighter, but it wasn’t harsh.
It was warm.
Almost comforting.
And strangely familiar.
As he watched, an overwhelming feeling came over him.
There was no voice.
No figure appeared.
No hand touched his shoulder.
Yet somehow, he felt as though he wasn’t alone.
Memories he had buried for years suddenly came rushing back.
His mother’s smile.
Her voice.
The small moments he had once taken for granted.
And then came the regret.
All the things he had wanted to say but never had.
All the questions he had carried.
All the words that now felt impossible to speak.
His knees gave way.
He collapsed beside the grave as tears filled his eyes.
For years, he had believed that finding an answer would finally make his pain disappear.
But lying there in the strange morning glow, he began to wonder if he had been looking for the wrong thing.
Perhaps he wasn’t meant to find an explanation.
Perhaps he was meant to finally let go.
