As Darth Vader, Jones’s powerful vocal performance helped transform the character into one of cinema’s most iconic villains. Although the character was physically portrayed by David Prowse, it was Jones’s unmistakable voice that gave Vader much of his authority and menace.
As Mufasa, Jones revealed an entirely different side of his talent. His warm, reassuring delivery gave Simba’s father a sense of wisdom, strength, compassion, and love. For countless children and families, Mufasa’s voice became one of the most memorable parts of The Lion King.
