At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be anything unusual about this vintage drawing.
An elderly gentleman sits comfortably in an armchair with a pipe while talking to a woman nearby.
The scene looks peaceful.
The furniture, clothing, shadows, and carefully drawn details all seem to belong exactly where they should.
But there’s something hidden in the picture.
Actually, there are two things.
Somewhere within the artwork are two hidden children.
Can you find both of them?
The Children Aren’t Standing in Plain Sight
Don’t expect to find two small figures simply standing somewhere in the room.
That would make the challenge far too easy.
Instead, the children have been cleverly incorporated into the artwork.
Their shapes may blend with outlines, shadows, clothing, furniture, or other details in the illustration.
That’s what makes this type of visual puzzle so effective.
Your eyes naturally concentrate on the obvious scene while your brain interprets the surrounding lines as ordinary background information.
Finding the First One May Be Easier
Some people notice one hidden child almost immediately.
Then the real challenge begins.
Once your brain recognizes the first hidden figure, it’s tempting to keep searching the same area for the second.
Try not to do that.
Instead, divide the picture into sections.
Start at the top and slowly work downward.
Look around the man’s clothing and chair.
Then examine the woman.
After that, inspect the spaces and shapes surrounding them.
The second child may be hiding where you least expect it.
