Mia had lived peacefully in her little house for five years. She knew her neighbors, enjoyed the quiet street, and had never had a serious problem with anyone.
That changed when Claire moved in next door.
Almost immediately, Claire began complaining about nearly everything around Mia’s property.
First, it was the trash cans.
Then came complaints about Mia’s grandmother’s sentimental wind chimes. After that, Claire found problems with the hedges, Mia’s car, and eventually—even the fence.
Mia tried to keep the peace. She welcomed Claire kindly and even left a small lavender plant at her door as a friendly gesture.
Claire never acknowledged it.
Instead, the complaints continued.
Then, one evening, Mia found an official city notice waiting for her.
Someone had reported her fence for allegedly being too tall.
Mia had a pretty good idea who had made the complaint.
But rather than confront Claire or start an argument, she decided to let the facts speak for themselves.
She searched through her records and found the original property survey, along with the permit showing that the fence had been legally installed years earlier.
She photographed the entire fence, organized her documents, and waited patiently for the scheduled inspection.
Claire, meanwhile, seemed confident that Mia was about to be proven wrong.
But when the inspector arrived, the situation took a completely unexpected turn.
